Dara Lazar, C-OMT

Dara is a certified orofacial myofunctional therapist. She holds a certificate in myofascial release for prenatal massage and is a graduate of the Center for Neurosomatic Studies, Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and Swedish Institute in New York.

Dara uses a comprehensive system of postural measurements, massage therapy and cranial manipulation designed to eliminate analgesic postural compensation. She addresses disorders of the muscles and functions of the face and mouth through rehabilitative exercises.

Myofunctional therapy is a subset of speech therapy that addresses breathing and jaw disorders through a groundbreaking set of exercises. At the time of this writing, Dara is one of only two massage therapists in the entire country certified in myofunctional therapy, which is typically practiced by speech therapists and acupuncturists. This unique combination of manual therapy and myofunctional therapy gives her the ability to treat breathing, jaw and cranial disorders in a comprehensive fashion. It also enables her to understand how these disorders affect the spine, pelvis and overall health of the patient.

Dara hopes to give her patients lasting relief from pain and the tools to stay healthy. On a personal note, Dara is a vocalist active in the Resistance Revival Chorus, which sings to raise funds for various causes.
